Default Yep...I'm very lucky location wise. From Murrayhill its 10 miles or

less to some great wineries.

Default I love pinot noir and I think that's an excellent choice, but....

....it's been sort of a tradition for us to have the Nouveau Beaujolais for Thanksgiving. By the time dinner rolls around, most of us are pretty toasted already, so we probably wouldn't be able to appreciate a really fine wine ;-)

I've already had one bottle of Georges Duboeuf this year, and it's fairly decent....but don't get me wrong, I drink it this time of year simply for the novelty of it.

Which Pinot are you planning to drink for t-day?

Default Domain Drouhin in Dundee is a favorite... small but excellent.

A 1998 will be on the table at my house. I'll think of you as I open it. :-)

Default Boones Ferry. Good for all occasions! : )

I've also heard that Thunderbird is a great after dinner drink.

Default Well, I had my '99 Martinelli Reserve Sat. nite so Wine Guy

suggested another Russian River Pinot -

MacMurray - from a ranch owned by Fred MacMurray, the actor, since 1941 and then sold to others in the '80s - supposed to be wonderful for the price - about $25.

I also do Beaujolais and found it goes well, either Villages, or the stronger Morgon.

Default I've always believed drink what you like... here's what i'm serving

Disclaimer: this is for a group of 27 people.. out of those only 12 like red wine, out of those only 6 actually know ANYTHING about wine, so a 5 dollar bottle will be the same to them as a 100$ bottle. That being said...

We're serving a Savignon Blanc for our white and both Bordeauxs and Cabs for our reds.

The Savignon Blanc is a Duckhorn (Napa winery awesome wine)

The wine for the masses (people who don't know good red wine) Is a Santa Rita Reserva Medalle (a chilean cab at 11$ a bottle and got a 91 in winespectator)

For the 6 of us who know/appreciate fine wine, we're drinking a 95 Haut-Brion, a 76 Lafitte Rothschild, and a 95 Silver Oak.

It'll be a good thanksgiving for the 5 others (including myself) that like big reds

Default Personally, I think t-day needs more juicy cherry or strawberry (the lighter red side) but

if you've got a big dressing or lots of gravy the Merlot can work - while it is more blackberry, dark currants, leather, mushrooms, oaky --- ie, might be a bit strong for the occasion - if you like the wine, go for it and enjoy! Experiment! But you might bring along another bottle, just in case if you are the only one bringing wine.
