1000 miles on the car since it was changed. I had them replaced with synthetic. I don't typically check the oil right after it's changed, but I think I might have to now. I drive the car lightly. It's running perfectly fine. And my car has never turned my oil black this fast.

But so I'm not unjustly accusing the dealer, is there anything that would cause this in such a short period of time?

Default If it's different than what your experience has been in the past, then I can see how you would

be suspicious. If you can, change it again yourself. It's a relatively simple task and the investment is worth the peace of mind IMO.

Default If it's getting black much faster than in the past I would be suspicious. >>>

Also my oil darkens up a bit but isn't black on the dipstick even after 5000 miles.

Like SparTTan said, it's not expensive and doesn't hurt to change it again if your bothered by it.

Also maybe when they changed the oil they were too lazy to change the filter

Hit it with a Pyroil treatment....otherwise you can have it power flushed next time.

Default Reminds me of sign on golf course in Tucson.. they use recycled waste water

So the sign says.. "Do not put your ***** in your mouth" .. of course the consensus of the people I play golf with was... "If we could do that we wouldn't need to play golf".

Default Synthetics do seem to discolor quickly. I did mine a few K back and got similar results. Changes-

have been the same.

1000m is about 1/3 normal non-syn service. So monitor closely and see how it goes.
