Upgrade to a chip first or an exhaust first???

Which do you think is a better first upgrade a chip or an exhaust upgrade. I am leaning towards the exhaust as I don't want to void the warranty. If I went the chip route I would buy a new ECU to be chipped so that I can replace the stock if necessary.
Thanks for you input.

A chip and a spare computer is $1200 and you get 30Hp (for a 225TT) so the dollar spent per gained Hp is 40 ($/Hp).
Depends which exhaust you get but lets say you get the most popular exhaust or mtm then it costs about $1400 and you get an additional 8Hp or so, so the dollar spent per gained Hp is about 175 ($/Hp). That's pretty high for me. Hope this helps.

You'll FEEL the chip, and HEAR the exhaust.
I'd chip first if I drove pedal-to-metal frequently. If not, why bother?
IMO, torque/horsepower is addictive, exhaust note is more to impress the troops. Hey, I have both on my ride.

the turbo lag was still there but not as extreme in 1st & 2nd. I felt as if I gained more torque than hp. The car pulled harder at higher rpms on the freeways and the best part is that it is easier to shift by sound.

Here's why.
When chipped you have sooooo much more torque available to play with that merely breathing on the load pedal is enough to increase forward motion at a considerable rate. No need to change down a cog. Also, well in the case of the chip I have anyway, the part throttle response is much crisper.
Oh and overall fuel economy has improved too...of course apart from when making full use of the extra torque.
Forget thinking about power, torque is what these chips are about.
