This is the oil pan currently, and this plastic piece melted, which may also be where some of the that debris came from.

Might the windage baffle be salvageable? If its purpose is just to block the oil being flung around? With a high chance that the cars a lost cause, just trying to limit the amount I put into it just to test it.

Just got back from out of town, and taking a closer look at things. I really appreciate the input so far. As of the now the plan is, I patched the hole in the oil pan, and plan on moving forward with reassembling everything as is, refilling oil to see if it even runs.

If it runs, I'll drain and replace the oil and oil pan. Replace the baffle, any appropriate gaskets, and clean or possibly replace the oil pick up tube. Any advice on additional measures I should take prior to initial reassembly in order to prevent more possible damage? Attached are some photos of the underside currently, not sure if that's useful or not though. The passenger side of the crank case is dry and definitely looks like it got hot, which is also the side that the oil baffle melted on. I definitely appreciate any advice on prestart measures.

Also as shown, the oil pump chain seems a bit clogged. I am hoping it is just crud that the oil may rinse off, however it may also be bits of the plastic from the melted baffle.

Having a shop do the work is more than the car is worth. I'm assuming a perspective buyer is someone with the garage resources to do the work themselves. Just curious what sort of ballpark figure I might be able to get out of it?
I spent about 5,000 2 years ago replacing the motor in my 2001 TT Roadster 185HP. They found me a donor motor with around 100K miles, mine had 265K. I lost all compression motor just spun freely on the starter.
On the new motor, I had them replace the timing belt and water pump, fly wheel and clutch (which was original and still had life).

It was definitely more than the car is worth, but I have owned this car since 2003 with 35K miles and really could not find a decent car for $5,000.00.

At the end of the day it is a personal choice.

Thank you. I appreciate the input. I put everything back together with new oil, however the engine will not turn over either via starter or by hand. I pulled the plugs back out, and dropped some WD40 in the cylinders to see if it would free things up, although I've heard that's mostly for corrosion seize up's, and no luck. Even if it does turn over, looking at bearings, and likely a ton of other damaged internal parts I'm sure.

Got quoted $400 to take it by a local junkyard, but it would have to be complete. So no parting it out prior.
With the price and market availability for selling as is, unfortunately parting it out might be the way to go.

That stinks, they will probably crush it, parting out the car will certainly help someone else keep theirs on the road longer, but you need the time, space and patients.

Good luck sir.
