Vandalized TT
About two weeks ago my TT was vandalized while parked overnight in the two carport parking spots I rent. Looks like the vandals hit the hood above the passenger wheel well with a rock. The little b--st--ds were nice enough to place the rock they used against the driver side windshield so I would see it before driving off.
That morning I spoke to my neighbor whom was also leaving for work. He recommended Hoffman Audi's body shop in East Hartford, CT. Today I had an opportunity to speak with one of their estimators. She recommended I not fix the dent and apply touch up paint to the scratch. She said a dentless repair was not an option because it was located above a structural member and that paint blending would encompass much of the hood and quarter panel and possibly a section of the door. The estimate ranged from $750-$850.
What do you guys think? Is she right? Would you just touch it up and leave the factory paint intact? Are there any other recommended shops in the area?
I am so mad right now. What makes someone take pleasure in damaging another's property? What a way to welcome someone new to CT.
Thanks in advance for your help.

carbon fiber hood... three hundred dollah..
or maybe get a used hood on eBay, i've seen some for almost free.... or fixing it (dentless ding repair) shouldn't be THAT much I don't think, the dents don't look THAT bad IMHO
I feel your pain man, one of my fenders has a couple big ol scratches on it from last week, looks like someone kinda side-swiped my car...

ouch! It breaks my heart that some people have absolutely no respect for others property...
she may be right though, It is really tough to work on our hoods. My hood was damaged above both headlights and it was nearly 600 to fix it, so your price sounds a little high.

New to CT?
Me too. We should get together in December to drink heavily and watch it get cold, miserable, and snowy. :-)
Where at in CT? I'm in New Haven and moved here one year ago from Los Angeles.
Damn... summers are great, but winters are teh suck.

wow...a shame...i would get a second opinion from a quality body shop>>>
there are many options these days...you may even find a new hood on ebay and repaint it...is cheaper than the fix they recommended.....If you let some of us TT folk in CT where ya are, we can probably give ya a good lead...
