Vanity Plates--how soon to receive/web-friendly is your state? (2 mo in PA?)

Vanity Plates--how soon to receive/web-friendly is your state? (2 mo in PA?)
It's been many years since I ordered a vanity plate and was surprised when told it would be 2 months to get a vanity plate in PA.
On top of that you'd think by now you could punch in a letter combo on the web and order it immediately on a credit card. Not so here. You can call an 800 number to check availability, then pay a notary/messenger service to make their twice a week trip to the state capital and the DMV and take your form with them.
Vanity plates used to be made by prisoners. Now its contracted out. I guess prisoners are booking airline reservations or something.
