Ahm, YES. I am not saying it happens all the time and to everyone, but it is NORMAL
for the engine temp to climb above the center mark during certain conditions.
This is similar to the fact that it is considered "normal" for the engine to use oil; in fact, up to a quart every 1000 miles is within spec. This does not mean it happens to everyone (my TT has never used a drop of oil), but it is consider "normal."
Do a search on "temp gauge." You will find that many TTs have a coolant temperature that will occasionally climb to one notch above the center on the gauge, thus switching on the fans to bring the temp down. It was designed this way. If it never happens to your TT, you are not in the conditions that would cause it to happen.
