From Calabassas take the 101 (Ventura FWY)north to Kana/Dume and take Kanan to Malibu. Left on PCH through Malibu and then left onto Las Virgenes Canyon (Malibu Canyon Drive) -- about 5 miles from Kanan. Right on Mulholand to Topanga Canyon or Coldwater Canyon which will take you into Beverly Hills and Sunset. If you go left on Sunset (from Coldwater) you will reach the "strip" in about a mile or so.
You cannot go wrong with just about any of the Malibu area Canyon roads. Las Virgenes and Topanga will give you some spectacular views and great stretches of 'twisties'.
I envy you beyond belief!!!

I live along Kanan and ride the canyons everyday to/from work. Both Kanan and Las Virgenes are fun, but if you'd like to kick it up a notch, there are some WAY curvy roads in that area.
My personal favorite is Latigo Canyon. It runs between Kanan and PCH and it's a kick in the pants. This smaller mountain road (and several others like it) has very little traffic and it totally, totally twisty.
As you take Kanan towards PCH, look for the Latigo Canyon turn just after you pass Mulholland Blvd.

I think there's about 10 of us in the L.A. area who would love to get together for a drive (the Malibu canyon routes are indeed out of this world). Give me your e-mail address (mine is: donald17@earthlink.net) with the dates you'll be here, and maybe cubsTTer or myself can arrange something.
Take care,
