Default WARNING! Audi Fixed my brake light problem. Had no idea there was more to it.

Remember I said I had no brake lights even tho the fuses, connectors and bulbs were all OK? Well it turned out to be the switch at the brake pedal.
So I could have had someone up my rear but there's more.

That same switch deactivates the cruise control when you hit the brakes. Faulty switch = Cruise control stays on even when I do hit the brakes. Hate to think what would happen if I had to brake in an emergency. The engine would keep gunning to hit the preset speed.

Moral: If your brake lights don't work, don't just drive carefully, don't use cruise control. And get it fixed immediately.<p>http://pictureposter.audiworld.com/AudiWorldPics/2000/minitt.jpg

I had the same problem with mine and had it fixed 2 weeks ago I figured that the after market fitting by my Audi dealer of the cruise control had been done incorrectly. The head of the Audi maintenance team said that they had had another TT with the same problem.

Default Thatnks for the warning.. however, wouldn't depressing the throttle also deactivate cruise?

Default Tapping the throttle, brake(not working in LeTThal's case) or clutch will disable the cruise control

Sounds like a reason for a recall to me?

Default Likewise, couldn't you just switch it off?

Danger lies in what do you hit first in an emergency & time available to do any of the others?
