Default Warranty Question?

My 2002 180hp qc is just about to turn over 50K miles. I have the certified warranty and was wondering what the differences are between the original and certified? What is no longer covered that was covered under the original? How does this effect servicing?

Thanks

Default Regular service is not covered . . . (long)

You pay $50 deductible per visit for repair of any warranted part (there is a huge list of parts that are covered under the certified warranty). Note the $50 is per visit so you can have lots of repairs done for that price as long as it is in the same visit.

Regular service is not covered. I found a great shop that I now take my car to for regular oil changes and the like. I call ahead to the dealer to ask when a part goes bad if it is covered. If it is - and it's something I can't replace on my own, then to the dealer I go. (Like today the hazard switch/turn signal relay was replaced under warranty . . . or a couple months ago my CV boot was ripped; that's NOT covered so I had my local shop do the repair on that.)

The regular service will most likely cost you more at the dealer than at a reputable shop. Ask around and find one you like.

One last thing: before your 50K service try to find anything that is wrong with the car and have your dealer replace (while it's still free!) like wiper blades or anything you've noticed out of the ordinary have them check it out.
