I know the vents are blocked, but what is the purpose of those vents? Would there be a serious problem? I didnt think it was anything.

I think there is. Don't remember the manual of hand but it does say to keep those vents clear at..
all times.. I think you should read that again and contact the service center as well (or you might be better of getting information in this site, as most of the service center out there are just BLAH!! )
