Default Weird Xenon symptom here...

Hi, I have read a few posts similar to mine, but there is no follow-up, or explaination for what is happening. In August, my passenger xenon light stopped working. I turned my lights off then back on, and it worked for another 10 minutes.. Repeat this 20 times, then it went away. Now, 6 months later, it is happening again- but much worse. The light won't stay on for more than 5-10 minutes. As soon as I turn them off, then back on it stays on for that length of time. Any clues? All connections seem to be in place. If a ballast is bad, wouldn't the light stop working completely?

Thanks

Default No. the "ballast" is much like a flouresent light. It will surge the voltage to fire the Xenon, but

if it can't sustain that voltage, it will drop, and the Xenon will go out.

the problem is the "ballast" or the power supply.

no, not possible, the whole connector would have to fail for that. It's very solid.

Okay.. So the ballast still could go another 5 months just fine before getting worse? I am thinking the generator may be the problem. I must add that around the time it started, my cluster "took a dump". It reset the trip/date/stat displays. Could the surge from a bad ballast/generator do this? Or the cluster itself misfiring the light?

Thanks guys for your input.
