Hello from NJ. I picked up my TT 180 Coupe, Brilliant Black about 3 weeks ago and ever since I have been enjoying the posts here. I look forward to sharing some stories and learning some new stuff about our TT's. I have already installed a K&N Drop filter and look forward to buying a Chip and a Forge DV in the next few weeks. I have 1109 miles, so when do you guy's suggest I chip my car. Thanks.

From my experience with other cars, the chip will enhance HP and yes I do believe you can or will void the warranty. The guys here I'm sure will answer that for us.

Solo, from what I have been reading on here, we don't want to mess with the warranty. I am having the same problem on my 3 week old that LarryTT had on his. It took 12 months for him to get his straightened out.

there is a solution but it will cost a few more dollars...
When you chip a car, they remove the factory chip and solder in the aftermarket one potentially voiding your warranty if you get caught.
Your option is to buy a spare ecu and have that one chipped so you have the ability to switch the factory ecu and the chipped ecu to keep yourself protected.
Chips range in the $500 range....
a spare ECU will run around $600
it boils down to how *safe* you want to be and how much you are willing to spend for that security

w/o the second ECU. If there is a major problem, the dealer MIGHT replace the ECU or at least take a look at it. In that case, the "stock" ECU is the only solution...

Why not chip and if it becomes a problem then go out and buy a stock ecu replace ur chipped one and then take it back to the dealer, thus nulling their argument? I dont see how it is worth paying the extra 600 if ur dealer isnt going to be a jerk about it.
