Well I have always wondered about the proportions of the new 3.2 TT...

This is a most interesting idea, Bob, but I disagree. Not based on photos or specs but based on the
cost of engineering a new front end. I think it would take more than just creating a new bumper cover to make room for a larger footprint V6 if that is in fact what the 3.2 is. I was under the impression it was a suped up VR6 with stronger internals anyway, but I would accept other's confirmation or denial of that factoid.
In order to fit a larger motor in the TT, you would have to change the dimensions and placement of everything in front of the motor including radiator, hoses, fans, structural bars, mounting points. That's a 15% re-engineering of the car in my armchair estimation!
That's my argument, later in the year we will break out the tape measures, protractors, compasses and slide rules and know for sure!
Again, interesting topic.

FSI engines will be 4-valve also, no room for the 5th valve.
Plus it took them this long to figure out how to make a 24 valve VR6, we would have waited forever for a 30 valve

As John pointed out earlier, the lower lip and bumper are one
piece, so you would need an entirely new front bumper .. still don't think that changes the dimensions. They probably had to move the battery to fit the new engine in ... just my guess.
