Default Well I have myself a boost leak... sounds like when a trumpet player pushes air though their lips

It is a whistle type sound. Sounds like I have air under higher boost pushing out past a hose. It seems to be coming from the passenger side.
Again it sounds like when when someone puts their lips together like a trumpet player and forces air out between their lips.

Problem is I can't reproduce it until I am driving and past around 8psi of boost. When I am holding on the accelerator I feel fluttering up high with the boost, like it just looses power, but comes back, etc.

I was hoping I could hold high boost and blow off the hose causing the issue- easier to find I thought. I am not getting any CEL's. Wondering if others have heard that sound. It is pretty loud and seems to be coming from the passenger side like I said. Really noticeable if there is a wall or something next to me, sounds like someone screaming.

I have not been under the car, nor taken the front end off. This started a few weeks ago all of a sudden when I was going to Rich's for my CPT arms. Could a slightly lose FMIC hose be causing a sound like that under heavy boost? I have tCarbons 180 FMIC, and it has been great. But with his there are some couplers that possibly could be leaking to bring the hoses around. Just wasn't sure if someone has heard that type of sound and knows roughly what could cause it. I don't think any of the small boost hoses could produce such a loud sound.

Default Thanks, I assumed it might be one of the hoses connecting the FMIC

Couldn't imagine the sound coming from something small, because it is so loud under pressure. Plus with the number of large hoses attaching the FMIC I am not surprised. Obviously mine is not the hold in the link, since I have a 180, but I will go though and make sure everything is tight shortly. Thanks John!

Default right, forgot the 180 doesn't have a hose there

sounds like a similar noise tho so I'd start looking for something big first.

Default Be sure to check the one with the molded in MAP sensor....>>

Been some failures there with the Sensor mount.
5 for Gary (N9909E) as I recall..

You may need to pressure check the system...

http://www.modshack.info/pressure.htm</a

Default I plan to look all over that area, with the amount of the hi-temp stuff though I used I doubt it

But who knows, I know tylor is sending me another updated FMIC piece, not sure where it goes in the system though.

So all I need to do is replace my MAF with that pressure tester, hook up my compressor to it, set it to 7-10psi and listen and track the sound right? I don't need anything fancy. My compressor has a regulator gauge on it.

Also your PCV line pic you link on your page there is broken so you know. If that is all I will need I'll get you paypal now.
