From having spent five years over there...
and observing how it affects family members when their spouses are deployed. I'd advise the quick seven day visit. Meet her friends while your there talk to her about her support structure and sphere of influence, and what shes doing to stay busy and focused. Not saying shes in trouble, we've all been lucky in the past.

Yup, Thanks for the input. My wife was just there this summer....the upsetting thing is.....
when she was home for the Holidays she was happier than ever, lots of good new friends, enjoying work and going to the gym, where she met even more friends. She was actually very excited to get back to Germany. Thanks for the thoughts.
