Default Were all 2001 TT radios BOSE stereo?

I have a 2001 TT with the BOSE stereo option. A few of the radio button lights stopped working so the dealership replaced the stereo. The new stereo does not desplay 'BOSE' when the stereo is turned on nor do I think it sounds as good. I returned to the dealership and the service manager told me that there was only one part number for the stereos put in the 2001 TT's. My 2001 TT brochure shows two stereo options. Does anybody else have a 'BOSE' stereo that does NOT display 'BOSE' when it is turned on? Is there an online catelog of parts that I can reference? Thanks in advance for your help.

Default The radio head unit is the same for both Bose and non-Bose - difference is in the radio coding -

I had the Bose option in my '01 TTR. I re-coded the radio with VAGCOM and now the radio does not display 'Bose' on start-up; however, in the roadster at least, I like the sound better without the Bose coding. Try adjusting the Bass, without the Bose coding, you can adjust up to +6 throguh -6 .... with Bose coding, you can only go +5 through -5.

Greg; Thanks for the reply. What is a VAGCOM?

Default Your dealer should recode it for Bose.

If they don't know what you're talking about, find a different dealer, or at least a different service advisor.

Default A software/hardware package used to communicate with your car's onboard computer -

I agree with sTTudmuffin - ask your dealer to recode it to Bose - or if you can find someone in your area with the VAGCOM software you might be able to get them to help you out.
