What to do when the paint doesn't match?

request a refund if possible and go to another shop
I had a shop messed up on my first lake silver metallic TT. They swore they would do the job over to make me happy and it ended up being worse.
This was a job recommend directly by the dealership at their labor rates. I thought by going directly to them, I would get the best shop. Not so.

someone who knows what they're doing should be able to match
I've had more than one piece on my car painted -- rear bumper, front quarter/hood, front bumper + chin -- and they've all turned out perfect. Anyone who says it can't be done and that they're all like that is trying to pull a fast one on you. I had doors painted on an old jeep that turned out like yours and were a total different shade of green until I bitched and took them back.
If I were in your shoes, I'd scrutinize every aspect of their work. Everything from overspray, to improper taping and blending, bad colorization, drips...

Re: Paint match continued...
If they can't match the paint, that just means they suck. Seriously, unless it is a color that *requires* a certain chemical, such as a fluorescent dye, color is easy to match. It just takes experience. Sounds like your guy doesn't know how to judge a couple tints due to drying or some other mistake.
Go somewhere else where the painter has experience and doesn't feed you a line of crap like that.

Color Theory
