Default It prevents the wide end, at the turbo intake, from collapsing at high RPM's

or it prevents the "sucking-soda-straw" effect in a different way.
Also, they come in cool colors, but I'm getting 'stealth' black<ul><li><a href="http://www.tt-forum.co.uk/forum/boards/ttoc/335.shtml">Video</a></li></ul>

Default It _may_ prevent... It's not a proven problem, except for anecdotal evidence on one car...

which exhibited the problem under uncontrolled, and undocumented, circumstances. There is also a lot of hearsay, without hard evidence.

You can probably make almost any intake pipe collapse, by simply plugging the air intake or filter.

So you are saying the video is undocumented and hearsay?

The conditions are undocumented, and it is a single anecdotal incident.

When you compare them, it's apparent that this easily could be an issue with the OEM hoses.

As Jeff points out below it prevents the need for an iron lung.

Default This might have been on an early car....>>

There is evidence that there was an interim hose design that predated the current one. Jeff (Jack-TTar) has one of these with wire reinforcements and stuff in different locations. His is a relatively early (non esp I believe) build. After that the hose was changed to what we have now. I'm not sure hose collapse is a current issue, although the Samco is much stronger in that department..
