Default You might get close but it is going to cost $$$$

Straight line performance would be hard to match. Turbo or not the 911 still has 2 extra cylinders and twice the displacement of the 1.8t. You could do a stage 3 setup to get close to a 996's horsepower but the delivery is going to be completely different between the two. The weight balance and having the engine out behind the rear axle makes 911s handle much differently than most other cars. You can do coilovers on the TT and it'll handle much better than stock but it's not going to handle as well as a 911, maybe steady state in sweepers but the 911 is going to turn in better and you'd be able to throttle steer it which you can't really do with the TT. Then there's the steering itself, there's no way you're going to get the TT's steering feel anywhere near the 911. For brakes you're looking at Stoptechs or Brembos to get to where the 911 is. And then there's the weight. The 911 C4S isn't as light as a C2 but it is still lighter than a TT. You could start ripping stuff out of the TT but then you lose the daily-driver comforts.
So yeah, you could get the TT closer but its not ever going to handle the same as a 996. You'd be looking at $10k easily in mods to do stage 3, suspension, brakes, FMIC, intake, exhaust.

Default The TT is extremely stiff, especially for a hatchback...

so it's a very good chassis that will benefit quite a bit from better springs and dampers. TT's can be made to handle very well, I'm just not sure you're going to get to what a 911 can do. Both cars would have to take very different paths through corners but the TT may not lag too far behind.

Oh, I was able to drive the 3.2 today, I'll post a review at some point tonight or tomorrow. I spent most of the day out driving today so I'm a bit beat tonight.

Default Here's a little bit more...

the So. Cal group consists if many TT's but only one 911 C4S (Pete's has since gone away to be replaced by a Cayenne). It's very fast on the straights and on some of our runs, we've just been plain killed by this car on the open road.

In the twisties though, it's possible to keep up - if you are willing to risk your car and possibly a bit more.

We've done some hellacious runs and I've been able to put the moves on those cars... but it was tough. The raw power doing out of the turns of the P-car is just to much.

I love them and will have one someday.

Btw, my mods include Bilsteins and Abt Springs among other things. They help a great deal.

Default Oh yeah, I forgot you got to play with those guys :)

I'd love to get a 993 C4S as a weekend/summer toy.
