parts on a monochrome picture are indicators of changed parts from the original or a former model. I will agree with those who say that it is modifications to increase downforce. Anyway I think this indicates the colored areas are different form the original production TT

Default Ditto. The parts are colored to illustrate what the accompanying text is describing...

in this case, underbody spoilers and so forth to bring down the ORIGINAL TT's drag coefficient numbers and reduce lift. This was done, as other have pointed out, and as it is written in the TT Story book, and in car magazines, to avoid using a rear spoiler. Unfortunately, Audi ended up going to a spoiler after all.

Now in the case of the MK II mods, yes, there were diagrams with colored parts to show differences between the original model and the modified Mk II model. That was only one example... you cannot generalize based on that example.

Yepper. Why does not *every* TT owner have the book "TT Story"? Should be standard equipment.
