Default A wide assortment. Not recommended.

Mechanicswear gloves work really well provided the person who put the filter on the last time didn't crank it on there...

You can easily slip it up onto the end of the filter and then attached a universal joint and extension to the end of it to twist off with a ratchet. It works great; very easy.

You can get it at Autozone for like five bucks. I think you need the "B" size. Take your filter with you to make sure.

Default The really big channel locks from Home depot. Not thrilled about it, but even when I used a

k&N filter with the hex on the end I couldn't get the ratchet and socket over the hex to loosen it. I tried taking my new OEM filter to the parts store to find the right plastic over the end wrench, but none fit. Very frustrating. Looks like it's going to be channel locks for a while.

Life would be easier without that cross-pipe. Now that I have the FMIC I need to come up with a smaller diameter replacemetn for that pipe...

Default That is exactly what I want, but they didn't have one at Pep Boys that would fit

the filter. I got some funky three-legged spider think instead - DON'T waste your money on that one! I tried to find the AutoZone on the way home, but didn't find it...

Default I remember your saga, and was afraid I would have to forego TTW with a mangled filter attached to my

car! Thankfully I took a 5 minute breather and "brute forced" it one more time with my hands, and was lucky able to break it free. I don't want to have to go through that again, and I certainly don't want to have to Swiss cheese either!

Default I tried one of those >>

It broke. Granted, the filter was on there pretty tight, but the thing shouldn't break!

That spider think didn't do squat for me...
