Default There is also a 17", 5 spoke wheel that is optional on the 225s only...

It is a lot lighter than the 17" 6 spoke. I would also like to know the weight. All of these wheels are made by Ronal. I called Audi, but they didn't know what the weights were. I then left a message several weeks ago with Gary@Ronal, but he never returned my call (one of my pet peeves). I think I'll try to call him again.

Funny...I was just sitting down to ask that.

Can anyone comment on it being forged from a single piece of metal? What does that buy you?

Default Yes Brad that's what I'm talking about the 17" 5 spoke for the 225. I am getting one and am

considering staying with the 6 spoke since I really LOVE the look. But I can appreciate the weight savings just as much so I would be VERY VERY interested in finding out the weight on these new rims.

Have fun with the new coilovers Brad!!

Default There's more to this than just the weight...

The 6 spoke damages VERY easily! If you brush against a curb with those wheels, it's all over. You will scratch the hell out of your wheel. This is being written by a very careful guy who screwed up his wheels twice. That 6 spoke wheel is convex, and extends beyond the rim.

The 17", 5 spoke is not convex. Also, it has a 1/4' lip that they call a "rim saver", or something like that. It will save your wheel if you hit a curb. I have suffered no damage to my 5 spoke rims in situations that I know would have damaged the 6 spokes but good.

Default Brad: Have them weigh one of your wheels while they are off for the coilovers...

Since we know that the 6-spoke 17"s weigh 30 lbs, and I know there was a post telling the combined wheel and tire weight for the 6-spokers, we can easily deduce the wheel weight of the 5-spoke 17" forged. I wanted to do this a couple of weeks back but unfortunately there wasn't a scale in Jason's shop and I didn't have a bathroom scale on hand.

I'm looking for an e-mail or on-line report on those coilovers, btw!
