Default What's a good price on 225hp TT Roadster?

Hi Everyone:

A friend of mine is looking to get the 225HP TT Roadster with the audio package and the premium package (DC metro area). MSRP on the car is $41550. He has been offered a premier purchase over 39 months with 0 down, $595/month. I believe this equates to approximately $1500 below MSRP. Is this a good deal? Does anyone know what one can expect dealers to go down to on this car these days?

Thanks

You didn't list what is the standard/basic/optional equipment. Quattro? Audio package? Premium package? Are you including the destination charge? Are they? Document/registration fees? Not enough info to know what a "good deal" is.

Actually, I did list the options in the first post, but didn't list the rest of the items you mentioned, so here goes: its the 225hp Quatro roadster with the options:

1. Audio package
2. Premium package

Charge includes taxes, tags, registration, destination charge, etc. ie. no further charges past the $0 down, and $595/month.

Thanks

Default It's hard to say....Premeire Purchase is a lease, hence....(strictly my opinion)

I believe that when leasing one should only be concerned with the monthly payment. After all, your friend will not own the car, but only be renting it from the lender. Why be concerned with MSRP in this situation (since your friend will never build any equity in the car)? More importantly, at least to me, would be the residual value of the car at the end of the lease. Also, how many miles per year? What's the penalty for going over the milage? What about "wear & tear items? So, with that in mind, $595 is a decent monthly payment. However, at $595 per month for 39 months, the residual value will probably be more than your friend will want to purchase the car for, so if he/she makes all the lease payments (I think with Premeire purchase, the car is titled to the leasee and one can sell the car at any time) your friend will more than likely turn the car back in --- but will he/she want another Audi? Does he/she wish to continue leasing in the future? Will he/she be satisfied simply turning the car back in and walking away? I think these are important questions to ponder. In my situation, I lease one car, but bought my TT as I felt that I'd want to hold onto it for a while.

Also, I heard that one dealer in the area was selling for $2500 below MSRP a month ago, but now that Spring is upon us, that might not be the case any longer....Hope this helps!

Default Greg - It's not a lease. You own the car as it is in your name vs. with a lease it is titled in the

leasing company's name. Premier Purchase is basically a balloon loan. At the end of the 39 months (or whatever period you get it for) you can pay the balloon amount or refinance (or sell the car). The monthly payments are lower since you have the balloon at the end. Pretty much gives you the benefits of a lease (lower payments) without the downside. There's no penalty for ending early as the car is yours to sell whenever you choose (i.e., no early termination penalty fee). The downside of this type of plan is that it usually carries a pretty hefty interest rate (10% would not be unusual). IMO, you shouldn't go with this type of plan unless it's the only way you can afford the car payment.

Default Tischer in MD has ttrs advertised about 3K below MSRP...

I was there last week and they must have 5 or more in stock, mostly black and silver, with maybe a red or green. I think most were 225s. Standard seems to be premium package (forged wheels, xenons, bun warmers ?) and Bose system.

Default $39,100

I got a dealer down to $39,100 from one dealer and $39,300 from another dealer. I intern found a slightly used TT Roadster 225 with 1400 miles for $37k and went for that.

Good luck

Default Yeah, sounds like the Mitsubishi Diamond Advantage plan -- I concur with Ellen...

steer clear unless you can't afford it any other way (of course my opinion). I think the car manufacturers started these plans to get away from the bad rap that leasing has. I don't see much difference other than your name is on the title....probably be hard to sell out early unless you put a substantial amount down up front as you'd owe more than the value of the car.....is this right?
