Default Depends on how much you use them...whether you do a lot of city driving vs.

highway driving, etc. I wouldn't expect to get much more that 20K on a set.

Default I asked a dealer about sueaking and they said it was normal and there's nothing you can do about it.

The dealer at the time (6-8 months and ~10K miles ago) suggested that the squeaking was caused by rust build-up on the rotors/pads and there's nothing they or I could do about it. Can it really be an indication of worn pads? I've had the feeling recently that the brakes don't "catch" quite as they used to, but at my last service (25K) the dealer said everything's normal.

Should I go out and get myself new pads? EBC green I guess would be the way to go?

Thanks,
-Krunch

Default No way (moer)

I'm at over 25,000 miles, and my pads are still operating almost like when I bought the car. Sure, I notice a little bit of degredation, but they still stop the car perfectly fine..

Default Like I said, it depends on how you use them...I do lots of spirited driving & lots of stops...

..I rarely get more than 20-25K on a set. That's just me.

Default Squeaking can be caused by lots of things....often is brake dust buildup...

...a constand screeching can be the wear sensors hitting thre rotors. As far as the EBC's go, probably not a bad idea especially if you don't like the OEM dust, however you'll have to get those rotors turned with that kind of mileage on them.

The only 'rust build-up' is in their heads.

Default Most shops have a rotor lathe on hand...if they have the necessary tolerance left on the rotor...

..they'll shave off the surface on the lathe to give you a fresh metal surface onto which you can bed new pads. If you don't have the tolerance left, they'll replace your rotors.
