much more than that. I have 1/4 miled the above mentioned cars and while their wheels were burning rubber off the line I was already heading towards the finish..Besides, I know how to drive.
That's a BIG part of it. To rephrase, I've learned how to drive the TT.
I've driven the S2000...you've got to have her screaming to make power...she was just too much of a wailer for my taste. Nice looking tho.
I'm not down south right now, but I'll keep all of you Floridians in mind until then..

Got to admit, don't know a lot about the pre-86 turbo Buicks.... no intercooler, right? I've had an '87 T-Type, and 89 TTA, an 87 GN (it was a screamer), and currently have a bone stock 87 GN, 32k miles in near mint condition... it still runs in the high 13's. Off topic? Sorry, I'm thinking about selling the GN to buy a TT... that pretty much depends on the boneheads at my local dealer's service dept. Ahhh, there's always Champion down south! It's between the TT and the S2000.... revs? Love 'em! Nothing sounds as sweet as a high revin four banger... Happy motoring.
J.R.S.

I didn't buy an Audi TT for stop light drags -- I bought the car because it spoke to me (as corny as that may sound). The S2000 is a wonderful car, it's amazingly balanced, fast, and has good enough looks. I don't like the interior, and it the exterior isn't anything to special to me. When s2000 first came on the scene, test drove it, and said, "well it's amazing... but it's not what I was looking for" then 2 months ago I test drove a TTR Quattro 225.... it wasn't the speed, handling, or torque, it was whole package. TT is like no other car I had ever drove or owned before -- which includes 1981 911, 1982 944, 1990 Eclipse GSX (still own), 1973 TR-6, 1998 Supra, 1970 SCCA Raced Modified 240Z, RX-7 (all years including last years model), 1998 Miata, M3, Z3, Z1 (remember those?), 1974 Alfa Romeo Spyder, and last but not least 1969 VW Bug (I learned to drive stick with that car) -- I've driven a lot of special cars, but of course I could deal with owning a new 911 Turbo!? (grin). Seriously, I feel it doesn't matter what the press says, or another anyone else can tell you, if you love a car, you are sold -- period! I love my TT!

Not trying to knock you down but, I'm sure things would be different in a controlled situation(i.e. Dragstrip). There are just too many variables in play on the street. Back when I would still do that sort of thing, I never had too much of a problem with Viper RT/10's due to them blowing off their rear tires upon launch. The track is just a great equalizer, IMO. You are also totally correct about driver skill as well, this more than anything else makes for a win or loss on the street. Just try to keep away from older Mustangs with NHRA stickers on the 1/4 windows:-)
Jason Dale

I usually try to keep a twin-turbo in stock most of the time, so if you'd rather trade a ride in a Diablo for one of these just say the word:-)
Jason Dale

Well actually I should only said drove...
I only owned and/or shared the 240z (father's car), TR-6 (father's car), bug (roomate's car), and Eclipse (my 2nd car), 1981 Celica Supra (my first car (hand me down, down, down, down, down, down (this car had a lot of pervious drivers/owners), all other supras were owned by friends).... And all the other cars were also friend's and/or relative's cars (some of my friends have much deeeeeeper pockets than I do) as for the Z1 -- I have cousins who live in London (they have a lot of neat cars in the UK like TVRs!)... and damn is confusing to drive there! I thought I was gonna get killed... yikes...
Z1 is a very FUN car! Those funky doors the slide down halfway... ah, didn't handle that much better than the 3 series... but still fun to toss around... very different compared to the Z3 -- Z1 is a very light car.. the chassis felt a bit more flexable than the Z3... enough said...
