What's wrong with this picture...? Lower girll observations needed....

While cleaning some bugs of the nose of my car, I noticed that something was funny with the lower grills on the car...First...I was seeing silver when walking up to the car...and realized the clips that hold the grillwork in place (usually black?) are now silver...but??? am wondering if I am actually missing some of the plastic "backing" material just behind the grill...
I'm actually seeing something that looks like a light socket inside the grill???????
Can someone please tell me to what degree that "black plastic backing" runs behind the grill...Thanks in advance...

Mine were like that too after coming back from the body shop...
I decided the clips were just shiny because they were clean and would get dirty over time and therefore invisible.
Never had the chance to find out. It was 5 months from wreck to lease turn in.

Yea, hard to tell from your pix's but >>>
The "flat" clips on the lower edge that are silver are part of the bumper (painted) and curve forward vs the black plastic insert who's clips go towards the rear of the car.
If it's on the inside, dirt will cover, If it's on the outside half, then the "screen" is probably missing - a flash light will tell the story... along with standing on your head LOL
