Default Wheel balancing

Told dealer I planned to purchase winter snows and metal wheels from mailorder house. He told me the wheels need to be balanced on the car. I never heard of this. Can anyone verify this? Was hoping to just swap wheels for the season. Also, will recall be able to be performed with winter wheels on?

Default Re: Wheel balancing

Wheels need to be balanced on the car? — No, not for the last 15 or 20 years.

Also, will recall be able to be performed with winter wheels on? — Yes, no problem.

Default You can get the best balance that way, but >>>

there aren't many places that can perform it. A regular spin balance (with weights on BOTH sides of your wheels) is usually good enough for all but the most difficult cars.
