Default When life gives you a broken house, you make...

reservations for a private house on the beach!!!!

We move out tomorrow. Drywall replacement begins tomorrow and there is no way in hell my child is gonna be here for that kind of dust.

The best part? It's the off season but the weather is beautiful! 80* tomorrow. So the insurance company is paying for a 2700 sq foot 3 BR house on the ocean in Jax Beach. And I mean on the ocean. Like, walk out and onto a path over the dunes.

Partay this weekend for sure!

Default don't forget the pics! can you explain the problem with the house?

Is it the jacking of the house because of the foundation?

Default Yep, still that problem

The foundation was fixed, the stem wall was rebuilt and when they went to set the house back down it didn't go. THe house was 2" up on one corner for 8-10 years from the last "repair". So, they have been seperating walls from floors and ceilings to remove support points to get the house to go back down. In the process they have removed two walls in my office, a partial wall in Mikaylas room and a lot of molding and ceiling.

I think as of today the ceiling and the roof trusses are back down on the walls which are back down onto the footers. The hurricane straps are in. And so we evacuate.

Default Did you have to get the house inspected before getting a mortgage?

It is required here. They are usually engineers and have some liability in cases like yours.

Default Been down that route. We did get a small settlement from the

wood destroying organism inspector for not detecting the water intrusion to the wall in the living room that we had to rebuild when we bought the house.

Otherwise we did have a case against the sellers
and almost filed except for one little facet of Florida real estate law that doesn't allow the plaintiff to recover legal fees in a case of that type. We talked to a lawyer about this before deciding against it. He was a friend and it would have been up to $20,000 in legal fees due to all the people that needed to be depositioned and all.

After this project, the house will be in very good shape. All that can fail now is the plumbing.
