When starting the TT, My Rpm gauge now takes extra 2 secs before....
launching into idle mode(2k)....Any ideas why?

Probably sub-optimal battery, possibly bad instrument cluster.

Some have said that this is cured by a new battery, but in my experience,
a new battery made no difference. Mine has done this sporatically for about the past 50,000 miles.

New battery (5 weeks old now) has not yet fixed this problem on my car, but I've had the problem....
for two years now.

I have found if you turn on the ignition, wait, then start the engine the lazy tach goes away.
