Here is what you need . . .

The unit is basically a cable that plugs into the OBDII plug under the dash above your left foot. The cable and software cost $199. You can usually get a discount on it if you buy a chip from AWE or PES or possibly even APR.
You can do all sorts of diagnostic stuff with it along with recoding radios and alarms and doors lock tricks.
Quite a few people have purchased them. IF you have a laptop it makes your life easier.

Available only from VW/Audi..to the tune of $1200 if still available
I understand they have now been superseded by a new VAG tool...and anyway I belive they are normally only sold to dealerships and the like.
The alternative is the VAG emulator software and cable for your Laptop all told about $300...although I may be wrong on that price...Corrections anyone??
