Default Where is the Cell Phone Antenna for TT's with the built in phone?

Is it part of the little Fuba antenna used for the radio, or what?

Default No the roof antennae is for cellphone as Chris said . . . radio is

the top 3 lines of the rear defroster. All other Audis use the top 2 lines, but the TT window is that much smaller they used a 3rd line.

Default You say the roof and Larry says the rear window?

Which is correct?

And, where is the connection to this antenna?

Default What I said it correct and so is what Chris said!

The antennae that is on the roof is for the cellphone ONLY. The cable runs between the metal roof and headliner which is what Chris is trying to say.

The radio antennae is the top 3 lines of the rear defroster. If you go and look at the defroster you will notice the top 3 lines are not connected with the rest of the defroster. That antennae cable is also above the roof liner.

Default Do you mean within the car itself?

Two places sort of . . .

1. The RJ45 on the passenger side just beneath the cup holder.

2. In the hatch on the drivers side behind the door.

#1 is where you plug in the phone and #2 is where the cell phone "guts" of the OEM phone would go.

Everyone that has tapped into the antennae uses the RJ45 as far as I know.

Hey Larry, does that mean that the OEM phone brick goes where the cd changer is for most of us?

Default Re: Where is the Cell Phone Antenna for TT's with the built in phone?

The antenna connector for the coupe is located in the driver side rear hatch quarter panel. The roadster has it located behind the passenger seat at the bottom of the top storage area.
The RJ45 connector (located under the cup holder) doesn't have an antenna connection. The antenna connects to the Motorola (factory) cell phone module that is installed in the above areas. If you use a non-factory phone you must run an antenna lead to it.
I installed a Cellport unit (wanted to use my Startac) and decided not to use the RJ45 because the antenna had to be run anyway.
Check out the archives for more info if your thinking of doing your own install.
