Default where do you guys have your adjustable shocks set at???

i just got a set of Koni Adjustables put on and i have the rears set at 1/2 and the fronts to all the way soft and the ride is still pretty damn firm.. Is that to be expected with 18" wheels and springs?? I dont mind the firmness at all, i just thought having them set as soft as i do would have allowed for a better ride around town..

Default It won't make much difference as far as firm vs soft ride goes>>

that's mainly a function of spring rate. Paired with my Neuspeed springs, I have my Konis set 90 degrees off full firm in the rear, and 360 off full firm in the front.

I had a German guy say today that it feels nice... that is to say... to an American... quite STIFF!

Default Someone told me once that I should put the rears all the way firm, and the fronts...

all the way soft. He said this would help the car handle more "neutrally" since I don't have a beefier swaybar or anything. That's how I have them. Can anyone validate this claim? I've never tracked my car, just a little spirited driving so far.

Default Eh..

First off, KONI does not recommend setting any of their shocks to full lock stiff position. Their definition of "full stiff" is set to the end of motion, then back off 1/8 turn. A closed valve is not recommended by them.

The recommendation given to you is partially correct. A stiffer rear end promotes oversteer. But the setting on the KONI's is for rebound, not compression, so it doesn't exactly work the same.

With a shock set to full stiff, the spring won't have enough energy to push the suspension back out, so on multiple bumps, or a large bump, the rear will sag temporarily, which will make you ride on the bumpstop - a condition called stacking.
Riding on the bumptops will promote oversteer, but you'll have bad turn-in, since your weight will be shifted aft.

I'd recommend softening the rear shocks up some. You'll have a more comfortable ride, more suspension travel, and only minimal affect the handling. Keeping the front full soft is fine, as long as you're happy with the damping.

Default I have my rears at about 75% and fronts at about 50%

Its prett soft. Almost like stock. Need to tighten the fronts up a bit.

Default Ditto this. I find that I keep incrementing them stiffer cus I like the feel better>>>

Then I'll have a bad back day and set them back to 25% and start over.
I set the backs at 75-80% and leave them there.

Default Full soft here. Here is what I experienced...>>>

I had the rear shocks set full firm right when I installed the shocks. It was way too bouncy in the back. Lots of wheel hop. I have a front wheel drive TT, so maybe this accounts for the bouncing in the back, however, it was not for me. I have full soft on all four. I have experimented with full firm on front, but too much understeer. Two notched toward firm, seemed really good. Got tired of that after 4 months, now back at full soft. I believe the best is to run full soft and make up the difference with bigger sway bars. I would give your shocks a break in period before reefing down on the settings.
