Any thoughts on what this might be? It whines while turning at low speeds, as speed increases the noise stops. The turns can be anything from a U turn to a very wide turn.
Thanks in advance.

I get the same thing. It seems to be worse when it is cooler outside. I hear it when I am downshifting too. If I am cruising and have to come to a stop, when the RPM's get down to around 1500 it gets pretty loud, then goes away when I come to a stop, this makes me think its not the power steering pump. Does this happen to you too? I will turn the wheel and nothing. I called the dealer and they said it sounds like the turbo just spooling down. Anybody with any info out there?

I had the same problem. Although it would only happen after hard driving. The fluid level was fine. On my 35,000 mile regular service Hoehn Audi tech flushed the power steering pump and reservoir, refilled, and the sound was gone.

Mine happens when i slow down as well, but only if turning. It is definately not a turbo related sound. When i come to a stop, then turn the wheel, it doesnt make any noise. Just checked the fluid and its low, going to buy more now.
