Default Beg to differ, Colonel.

I never looked for a performance gain by installing a Bailey DV. Nor did I think that the dv failing would cause turbo failure like the sucked-in part did to your turbo.

However, what I've experienced is:

1) no coke bottle honk at 2500 rpm that was annoying me
2) the low speed surging is completely eliminated. The car pulls cleanly and strongly from 1000rpm right up through the rev range now.
3) the "clonk" of the piston opening when I back of the gas is 5 times quieter that the standard dv; that used to sound like something was loose in the engine.

Is the spring seat pressure the same? I don't think it is. JIM

Yes it is. It's set at 12 inches of HG - the Audi spec.

Default For me it started when...

my car was a few weeks old. The cruise control started hunting when going uphill. Then I started having a sudden level off of power shortly after shifting (it's hard to describe). The car never felt like it had 180hp. My dealer found a vacuum leak and the turbo was not giving full boost. They replaced the turbo and fixed the vacuum leak, they said. There was no change in performance and the power plateaus remained. Next, they replaced the original DV with a G valve. It was like night and day. The car was smooth, no plateaus, more power. Alas, it lasted about a week. This time I started experiencing power surges then plateaus after shifts and driving uphill. Most recently, they replaced the DV with the H valve and installed it backwards. Again, I had smooth shifts and the car was wonderful, hot, cold, fast shifts, or slow. It lasted 4 days this time and now I am back to the plateaus. I have ordered the Bailey and I expect it to fix the problem forever as it did for Michael and Ellen. I will let you know the outcome. Hurry up Bailey!!!

That's interesting, I still would go with the after market (Bailey). I can't use a part from either.

I've got the "honking" noise but I reckon it's those big lunches!
