a recent post said the big "color temperature number" lights are for "looks" only. Blue, purple etc.... and actually throw LESS light down the road than the stock bulb @ 4200k. I'm thinking the 5000k Philips replacement could be the right tradeoff, assuming max illumination (not color) is desired. anybody??
