Default Why no RWD bias for haldex?

I just drove a friend's Jag 3.0 X-type Sport and was very suprised with the noticable bit of mid-corner adjustability that was possible with this awd car. Apparently the car has a 40-60 rear torque split. Why doesen't Audi impliment a rwd bias on the TT with torque going to the front as the rears slip instead of the opposite way which it is now? Thanks

Default Jag X Type 4wd system is the Montero SUV 4wd system...

Goes to show that you didn't noticed it wasn't made for a car, but a SUV

I wonder if the Haldex computer can be reprogrammed to change the front to back bias?

Default Yes and No. Haldex can be reprogrammed, but cannot send more than 50% to the rears.

It's a clutch that simply locks the rears to the front axle. So, with haldex fully engaged, you have a theoretical 50/50 torque split. You can't go any further.

Because it doesn't matter.

And that is applied torque. The fronts still spin.

Default Wrong. Its the system originally designed for (but not yet offered in) the...

... second generation Ford Mondeo.

The Montero system was developed for a longitudinal powertrain, the X-Type's (Mondeo's) for a transverse engine and transaxle.
