Don't believe the hype. I Used K&N from previous cars, the small amount of hp gain (or loss) is not worth it vs. longevity of your engine. but for the TT I will stay stock since I plan on keeping this car for many years. I just don't know how they can claim that their filters are better than oem.. Lots of technical reading but interesting results nevertheless.

Air filter study

I have only ever had two engine failures in my life-BOTH the result of dirt ingestion
One was a Chevy 400 smallblock which had a hole in the K & N filter, the second was a Nissan truck which had the wrong air filter installed in it.
I bought both of those cars used and didn't find the filter problems until after I had bought them.
Expensive mistakes.

B.S. I have been using K&N filters is all my vehicles for years.....
and have never had a problem. My vehicles breathe easier and the fuel mileage on my 2004 Ford F250 6ltr Diesel went from 14 mpg to 20mpg. I would like to know if the "test" done was using a properly oiled K&N filter or not, it makes a difference

165K miles on my A4...K&N its entire life....runs 22+ PSI with a T28 turbo all day long...
dyno'd at 288whp on a mustang dyno. If used properly )oiled with not TOO much oil) K&N's are superior to paper filters.
