This is why you shouldn't be using K&N and similar aftermarket air filters

I had a K&N on the mustang for 99k miles and the engine was 'mint'
I had high performance ported heads swapped on at 99k and had them check out the block and pistons while it was apart... there was no wear at all.. they said it barely looked broke in even.

Only because they don't test with someone elses filter..>>
They are relatively conservative in this regard. Both BMC's and VTDA's and TTDA's have been fitted to Stage 3's with fine results...
