Default Widest 18" tire the TT will accomodate??

I was checking out the tirerack.com site and noticed some different tires (225/40, etc.) available in the 18" diameter. Any opinions on which one would be best to get? And what is the widest 18" tire the TT will accomodate?

I'm also a bit confused as to the "225/40" aspect of the tire spec. What exactly does it mean?

255/35 will go in back without issue.

If you want to keep the ability to rotate and since the car is FWD/AWD put 235/40/18 all around.

Default Pardon my ignorance but ...

Do the 235/40s have a lower profile than the stock 45s? And does that also mean they're slightly wider. If so, then I think I'm sold.

Thanks,

Default I run 235/40/18 on my car. No rubbing, the 40 is a percentage, so its 40% of 235, vs 45% of 225.

<center><img src="http://216.167.47.207/internet/jenner/stuff/wheelside1.jpg"></center><p>This means that there is slightly less sidewall showing than a 225/45, but not much.

Hope fully this picture will help.

<IMG SRC="http://216.167.47.207/internet/jenner/stuff/wheelside4.jpg">

Running a 235/40/18 will make your sidewall 3.7" instead of 4.0" and will make your overall diameter 0.4" resulting in a speedometer error of 1.7%

In other words when you are going 100mph you are really going 101.7mph not a big deal if you ask me.

Hope this helps
