will clearing a CEL with APR software affect the readiness?
I recently started getting a CEL from the coolant sensor (can't recall the code right now)... I'm trying to get my car inspected, and last time I failed because I cleared the CEL using VAG-COM and by the time of inspection they couldn't read all the readiness codes.
My question is: will clearing the codes using my APR software is going to affect the readiness again ? ... I know I will pass emissions with no problems with that coolant sensor problem, but I need to get rid of the CEL or else I will fail just by having it on.
TIA !

That's a great question. don't know-----
I have VCDS and APR with ECU reset--fault code erase. I'll hook up the VAG Com tomorrow and check that out.

I believe you need to drive X amount of miles after clearing the CEL.
I had to do that once... the smog shop told me to drive more then come back.
It maybe 100 miles or so :-/
Just hope the CEL doesn't come on again in the meantime

You didn't mention that you replaced it in your post.
I think you need 3-4 warm-up cycles to reset readiness codes on that one.
It's time and temperature for that one.
A weak thermostat spring can cause an overly long warm-up period which may also set the code.

ehhh hmmmm, lol as a new york state vehicle inspector lol, really i am, i can tell you that everytime you erase a code, whether using software such as a vagcom or just using a cheap $100 scanner, or by disconnecting your battery, you restart the readiness test cycles. a vagcom or a scanner will tell you wen all of the monitors as they are called are ready. you cannot pass unless all are ready but one. which is why, if timed right one can get an inspection with a bad secondary air injection pump lol

Seems APR ECU reset does not clear ALL codes
I had a secondary air injection code when I checked. I did the ECU reset with the APR program but it was still there when I checked, so I cleared it with VAG Com. That of course unset the readiness status. I forgot to look and see if readiness was still set after doing the APR ECU reset. Sorry. Got all involved in the code still being visible and forgot to check the readiness. The APR ECU reset DOES reset the CEL producing codes. I have done that with coil pack failures and with Accelerometer failures ( G251)
