Default Will divert for beer, or... Ronzo installs another DV

This morning I met Dave (DAC54) and a couple of his ahem...BMW M buddies....for breakfast. We both had our TTs. The guys were great. Of course all we talked about were cars. And of course the subject of DVs were discusssed. Dave hadn't had his put in yet so I called home and, yes, Ronzo was available to install it. So home went Dave to pick up the Forge DV and we had our own little mini-install party. No, there was no consumption of alcohol prior to installation, although Ronzo recommends being properly relaxed when working with electricity or heavy equipment.

Default Aboslutely...make sure its Becks and bring the proper tools:

1/4" and 1/8" flatblade, 12" long extended #2 philips, 1/4" drive socket set with small metric sockets, large channel locks, heavy duty diagonal cutter (for removal by mechanical insult of the factory one time only clamps), and optional anti-seize for prepping of hose clamp threads. Also a heavy blanket or towels to protect the vehicle. Installation takes about 30 minutes, 15 of those Ronzo spends yakking.

And yes, we are serious, if you are. Think about where you want to meet.

Default I'll call Stratmosphere Pete on Monday. Couple of Q's....

"Large channel locks" ? Diagonal cutter? I've read that the OEM clamps are a PITA to remove, but "Diagonal cutter"? Please advise.

I have everything else.
Becks is it? I suppose Watney's Red Barrel would be right out of the question :-)

Only comment I have is...if you can get this same deal, go for it. Ronzo is much more **** than 99+% of the mechanics you'll ever find out there! Every aspect of the installation was checked and double-checked.

P.S. Be sure to ask him about his BMW motorcycle!

Default Answers...

Channel locks, like you would use for your plumbing...also called "botch locks" according to Ronzo, because botching a job is what they are ordinarly used for. Diagonal cutter helps to cut the OEM clamp off. Ronzo says you may not want to watch that part of the operation becasue it is not particularly elegant (basically consists of beating the $h*t out of the clamp until it loosens its hold on the vehicle--its replaced with a new clamp included in the valve kit).

And no, Watney's or Pabst or any other headache in a bottle American beer is unacceptable ;-)
