Default window not opening

My driver-side window has decided to stop working all the time. I was already planning to take the car to the shop next week for a similar problem. They are going to replace the window's motor because the window does not seem to be going up all the way. But I am not sure what is happening now is a problem with the motor. Could this be an electrical problem? Sometimes I can open the window, but sometimes I can't. Any suggestions?

Default Try wiggling it a bit...

This may sound strange, but the "pinch protection" system works for both up and down, so if the window is "stuck" on something the motor may be trying to move it and may thing there's something in the way.

I assume the passenger side window works and that it and the driver's side window are on the same fuse?

Sounds like the elctrical gremlins. They seem to come and go. Ask dealer about faulty ground wire.

Default Similar Problem

I have a similar problem. Driver's side stopped working altogether for about 20 mins. Now it only goes up and down with the switch depressed. The auto up and down functions no longer work. Dealer says it could be the window controller (in the door) or the window controller programming. It goes in on the 11th for a check.

Default Read your manual. It gives directions on how to restore the "auto up" and "auto down" function.

Same thing happened to me and the manual instructions fixed it in approximately 5 seconds.

Default Electrical gremlins?

Is that why I had a problem when my gas cap wouldn't open, and my trunk release wouldn't pop? Also had some weird window problem, both would not go "auto up", but of course EVERYTHING works just peachy the two times I brought it into the dealer!!!!!!!!!

Dealer's suggestion this past Sunday, "It works, so leave it open, top off the gas and come back if it happenes again." Sigh...Only 455 miles, so am waiting for the other shoe to drop...

suggestions?
