Default Window radar detector placement recommendations

I have a window radar detector that I'd like to hardwire and conceal as much as possible. I was thinking I might try to mount it above the rearview and see if I could draw power from something around the dome light but I'm guessing that I'll need to run a wire around the windshield frame or something.

Any suggestions?

I have placed mine right under the rear view mirror. Haven't hard wired it yet. Plan on runnig a wire down to the fuse box and connecting it there so that when the car is off the device is also off.

What model do you have?

I have a v1 and got tired of all the false alerts so I just purchased a 9500ix. My v1 came with a hardwire kit, whereas the 9500ix requires an separate kit. You can purchase the Direct Wire SmartCord ( Mfg Part# 79-000041-01) http://www.buydig.com/shop/product.a...E&tab=descript

Also, the suction cups on the v1 are TERRIBLE. If you ever have to take it off, it's a good 5 minutes trying to get it to resuction. For the 9500ix, i found a pretty cool suction cup that works awesome: ( Mfg Part# 0010027-1) http://www.buydig.com/shop/product.a...P&tab=descript

As far as hardwiring goes, I believe you will need to run above the hoodliner, down the A-pillar, and then tap into the fusebox.

Just found a good Valentine v1 Stealth install for the TT, hope this helps. I woudl imagine the 9500ix would be very similar: http://forums.fourtitude.com/showthr...-Install-(BWW)

Here is a concealed install for a V1. I assume logic w/b the same on the 9500ix. Good write-up:

Canuck TTRS had a recent post with pics on QW mk2 forum where he wired it just under the rear view off of the home link so it's not powered when car is off. Worked for his MK2 tt rs.
