Default Winter Driving (had to ask)

I just have to ask ... does anyone drive their TT year round? I live in Buffalo, NY and I'm looking at getting a Quattro Coupe, but I would have to drive it year round, including the snow. Has anyone had any experience with this? Am I crazy and should be shot for even thinking of driving a TT in the snow? Thanks!

Default We can't both be crazy......

Can we... I live in Alaska... drove my TTQ thru the winter (six months of snow) except when the temps got really low. It out performs most anything when equipped with snow tires. Finally a sports car that is winter driveable. If you would like more info, email me.

Default Winter driving...Honest thoughts ...

I assure you that the TT in both forms, the FWD and even better traction Quattro will perform excellent on winter roads provided they have WINTER tires or all season radials. The stock tires are summer performance tires and would need to be replaced. Your dealer may have details to refit your TT w/ radials..but be sure to ask !!

Aside from the mechanics..

Remember that winter roads are generally horrible regardless of how competent your automobile is for driving on them. Salt is thrown to melt ice. The car will also be more prone towards dings and scratches. I regret my pessimistic response but I want to give you a real scenario of what you may experience w/ your 40k + beautiful automobile.

If you have a second car, use that for the Winter and leave your beloved TT in a garage for hibernation until Summer arrives. You'll be grateful and it will reward you w/ some over due sport driving !!

Caio..

Default Then on the other hand...

My whole reason for having a TT is to have a sports car for all-season driving. Summer is for 911 Turbos!

Default I got my TT last November and one of the first things I did

get it fitted for some Michelin Pilot Sport winter tires. While we don't get as much snow as you guys in Buffalo I can tell you when it is snowing the TT performs superbly - and just imagine the surprise from SUV owners when you out-pull them in the snow.
Also, and some will think I'm crazy for this, I intend to use my TT to go skiing (I already have the Audi base rack and ski/snowboard attachment) without any worries (other than the obvious) about road conditions.
