I thorougly enjoyed this season as well as last night's finale...
must truly be a girl thing. The reason I liked this season is because there were less people getting beaten to death and shot. Call me a party pooper, I guess.

From a guy's perspective (IMHO) the best part of the show last night was when Carmella
actually told Tony about her feelings for Furio.. I simply couldn't believe she did that. Tony's "NON" reaction was stupid though..

The thing is, if Furio ever planned on returning to Jersey...
Tony would kill him knowing what he knows now. But, I don't think there's a chance of Furio's return, so there's nothing to worry about.

They changes focus, which isn't necessarily bad (spoilers)
If you think about the season as a whole, it was more about family (wives, children, mistresses, etc.) than "family" (gangster). Viewed in that light, it was very successful.
We have gotten used to characters getting whacked all the time. This season, we basically had Ralphie and some secondary/minor characters get killed. Did you really think the hits on Johnny Sac or Carmine would go through? No way! They're way too interesting, and would be hard to write without exploding into a "family" war. Maybe for the final season, but not yet.
So, my point is, if the rumors about season five being the end are true, then looking at the whole, this season could be the calm before the storm.
Think of the threads we have open:
Do any of the big deaths (Ralphie, *****, etc.) ever get connected??
Does Johnny Sac have Carmine killed himself?
How far can Adriana's FBI connection go before she gets caught?
What about that Russian?
Does Tony ever see the Napolean painting?
Will someone *please* kill Janice?
And, as OcTTober pointed out, what the heck else are you going to watch? The only other regular series I think is in this league, as far as writing, plotting, and acting, is 24.

We will see... Furio was over my buddy's house watching the episode last night....
But he won't divulge anything... They made all the actors sign confidentiality agreements. But what I do know: Next season is the last... and they will continue after that with Sopranos movies.
