Would I be able to lower the TTCQ with just shocks alone?

Which one? I dont want to lower it down with springs, springs/shocks or coilovers - been there/done that from my previous rides (3-series bimmers) and from all the rubs I got, the rough ride and all the creeks and noise that came after I lowered it, I swore to my self, Im not gonna lower my car using springs & shocks again.
But Im just wondering if there is any "shorter" shocks that is available for the TT to at least go down more or less half an inch without sacrificing stock ride.

Sorry. Use the right combination of springs and shocks and there are no problems...A bunch of options out there that won't result in the same experience you had with the BMW...

The stocks I have right now is already too stiff for me. My wife's car has been in the shop for a few days and I've been driving her to/from work everyday. The 18-one-way-drive proved to me that its too stiff for comfort and putting something stiffer there would be like riding a mountain bike.
I always feel relieved whenever I drive my wife's A4 (although it sucks on the corners). Dont get me wrong, I love my TT but I wish it had a more forgiving suspension.
Whats a good suspension setup that is good on not-so-perfect roads?

The stock shocks are pretty weak and don't last that long.
I've been on the Eibach/Bilstein setup for about 2 years and the ride is very close to orignal but way better as far as handling.
This setup lowers the car about 1 inch. Not bad.
Something to think on.

Is a tired set of shocks. As they wear and the valving goes away, they get harsh and fairly uncomfortable. Stock spring rate on the TT is actually pretty cushy, but when the shocks go it's like riding a buckboard. Good shock control is the key to a good ride. One compromise I have really liked on my car, and others I have done is just a set of Bilsteins on stock springs. If you have no burning desire to lower and change spring rates, this is actually a pretty plush set-up...
