Would like to start using Amsoil, any suggestions on which viscosity for most wear protection?

Default Would like to start using Amsoil, any suggestions on which viscosity for most wear protection?

oil change-up less than 700km away, if indeed possible i am going to grab a TDi oil filter for a bit more oil capacity along with Amsoil

sure Mobil One is great and i've never thought differently in the 80,000km which i've utilized it in my TT, but its no-brainer that Amsoil doesn't compare - so the time has come :P

cheers, Max

Default 5w40 - stick with OEM filter, though.

I just changed the oil in my Wife's 225 TTRQ yesterday - M1 0w40. If you're going Amsoil, use their 5w-40 Euro spec oil. The best all around - wear, cold start protection, high thermal breakdown point...

How hard do you drive/what's your weather like?

Have you read this previous post? Not bad info.

https://forums.audiworld.com/tt/msgs/698020.phtml</a

Default Amsoil officially introduced a Euro car spec 5w-40...

in April for USA. I've been using their turbo formulated 10w-30 (ATM product code) in the TT and it's been stellar, but I'm going to the 5w-40 and expect every bit as good results.

I found Mobil 1 to be inferior to a couple other synthetics when I got the prior Jetta 1.8T, and even worse when I upgraded to the K04 in it. Mobil has volatility issues in particular. It's overhyped and overadvertised... comparable to the Fram junk.

It's not even close to Amsoil... go for it. Use the OEM filter. I'm doing oil change next week and also full oil analysis.
