Default Wow the squealing was loud coming from the other car as I almost got rear ended this morning

Car in front of me stops short on the highway for no apparent reason while traffic is moving at 55 or so. I'm not following too close and have the proper tires for the 12 degree weather so I didn't even come close to hitting him. The noise coming from the guy jamming on his brakes beind me was so loud and when I looked back and saw how close he was I thought there was no way I wasn't getting hit. The lane next to me wasn't clear so I had nowhere to go. From the way he was driving afterwards I take it he must to have needed a change of underwear after that one.

Amazing it didn't happen. I'm glad my coffee cup is spill proof.

Default i so hate that feeling of helplessness when it occurs>>>

watching the other vehicle close on you...

Driving through the snow a few weeks ago in the battlewagon (aka the mercedes)...we watched a tractor trailer start to jack knife...everything went into slow motion and we had but 8 ft to clear him...he saved it, which was a miracle unto itself....but the quick reaction to find that "space" to squeeze by had my heart racing for 40min...

Glad you and everything are ok...

Default Thanks >>

It takes alot to get me shaken up, this one didn't come close but I think your truck incident would.

To add to it yesterday on the way home, twice within 5 minutes someone started changing lanes without looking (or signaling) when I was practically next to them.

Default I had that happen to me when I was driving my GF's not even day old (to her) car last Sat.

We went from 65 to 0 quick. It was one of those HUGE Ford trucks that had been following me and my GF. I guess thats why Audi has the saying "Never Follow" or something like that, because they can stop way faster than any other car. lol

I had that happen with an ancient Dodge Ram a few years ago. I know the feeling.

Default Shortly after getting my TT in 1999 I was sitting at an intersection

in Anchorage. We hear the SCREECH of the tires and automatically brace, then we hear the KAPOW as the poor guy in the lane next to us gets smashed into. The TT was so new at that time that I am almost certain that we caused it all.

I always try to go to the right of the car in front so I have some room to pull ahead if needed.
