XCarlink (iPhone) Installation Questions (before I order one and pull everything apart)

I'm thinking about installing an XCarlink iPod interface for my (Edge) iPhone.

From what I can figure out, the actual unit is approximately 3½ by ¾ by 1 in. I'm hoping I can do a relatively "clean" installation, e.g., no loose wires showing. One of the connectors fits on the back of the head unit (Concert I or Concert II), which is connected to a cable of indeterminate length to the XCarlink unit.
<img src="http://www.xcarlink.com/uploadfile/UploadFile/2008423111311393.jpg">
Then there's another cable, again of indeterminate length, which I think is at least long enough to reach where the phone bracket is. If I were really being fancy, I'd slip out the useless RJ-45 plug, attach a USB connector to the end of the iPod/iPhone jack, and then just plug my iPhone in, but that may be too tall an order. We'll see.
I just posted this exact question on the TT Forum in the UK, but here's the "red meat" question; is there any room in the dash to stash the XCarlink unit? If not, where should I put it?

Hey Chuck . . . I have an ipod adapter in the passenger side "fuse box" area; other places include on "the hump" up against the firewall behind the radio, you can also zip tie it in a few places under the dash.

The car's going in for a minor fender bender, so if I order it now I'll have it by the time the car is finished.

be sure to check out the other threads in the Radio section of the FAQ. Oh, the tools cost next to nothing, or you can make them free.<ul><li><a href="https://forums.audiworld.com/tt/msgs/1797179.phtml">https://forums.audiworld.com/tt/msgs/1797179.phtml</a</li></ul>
